A new partnership has been established by Oasys, a rapidly expanding blockchain network focused on gaming, and Metabora SG, the Web3 gaming arm of well-known South Korean video game firm Kakao Games.
The partnership intends to âcreate and deliver superior blockchain games to more users,â as stated in an Oasys statement issued on Wednesday. It is a component of Oasysâ 2024 âDragon Updateâ strategy, which emphasizes creating high-caliber game content, extending the ecosystem, and enhancing interoperability.
According to a statement from Oasys, Dominic Jang, Head of Business Development and Head of Korea:
âWe are delighted to partner with Metabora SG, a company that fully shares our vision of revolutionizing the gaming industry through the use of blockchain technology.â
Black Desert Line and PUBG are two titles that Kakao Games is renowned for releasing. Perhaps the most well-known product of parent business Kakao is KakaoTalk, a popular free chat service in the nation. A variety of blockchain games have been displayed through Metabora, including the role-playing game ArcheStar, the golf game Birdie Shot, and the puzzle game Skill Blitz.
The collaboration âmarks another important milestone for further business expansionâ in South Korea, according to Jang. In order to facilitate Metabora SGâs entry into Japan, Oasys also intends to take use of its current network there.
Oasys has gained popularity as the preferred network for established video game companies venturing into the Web3 space in recent months. Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles, the first original blockchain game being developed by Assassinâs Creed game publisher Ubisoft, is now being built on Oasys. In December, Ubisoft released an Ethereum NFT collection that is free and connected to the game.
In addition, Sega is collaborating with Double Jump.Tokyo, a Japanese firm, to launch a Battle of the Three Kingdoms game as well as other IP on Oasys for Web3 gaming. Meanwhile, last year saw the first release of an experimental AI-driven game on the chain by gaming behemoth Bandai Namco (Pac-Man, Tekken).
Most recently, Oasys revealed that Com2uS, a South Korean mobile game producer, would transfer titles from its XPLA ecosystem to Oasys. The announcement came before the OAS tokenâs price surged to a new all-time high of more than $0.14 on February 13 as per CoinGecko.
