EMURGO Academy, an educational division of the global blockchain technology firm EMURGO (which is the commercial arm of Cardano), has unveiled its latest offering: a DeFi Masterclass. This course is the result of a collaborative effort with the Cardano DeFi Alliance (CDA).
Established in January 2019, EMURGO Academy is a global educational initiative dedicated to fostering community growth and promoting awareness around innovative technologies, with a particular focus on Cardano. The academy has made significant strides in its mission, having trained over 2,500 learners in blockchain technology and tech stack from more than 21 different countries. In its pursuit of global reach and impact, EMURGO Academy has also formed collaborative partnerships with over 18 academic institutions worldwide.
The Cardano DeFi Alliance (CDA) is a collective of projects primarily focused on establishing standard best practices for Plutus and Cardano within the DeFi ecosystem. The alliance’s main objective is to enhance composability across DeFi protocols on Cardano. It provides a structured approach to Plutus protocol development teams, emphasizing collaboration on critical issues and strategic growth.
According to EMURGO’s press release, the DeFi Masterclass is a specialized online course that spans six weeks and includes 40 hours of e-learning and live faculty-led sessions. The course’s primary objective is to impart a comprehensive understanding of decentralized finance (DeFi) concepts and applications within the Cardano blockchain ecosystem. The learning experience is designed to be hands-on, incorporating real-world case studies, detailed tutorials, and interactive exercises.
The teaching team for the DeFi Masterclass comprises in-house instructors from EMURGO Academy and DeFi pioneers from the Cardano DeFi Alliance. The CDA is a group of innovative DeFi projects within the Cardano ecosystem, encompassing lending platforms, decentralized exchanges, stablecoin projects, and more. Notable participants in the Cardano DeFi ecosystem, such as SundaeSwap, MuesliSwap, and Indigo, will be part of the instructional team. This provides a unique opportunity for learners to gain insights directly from the innovators shaping the future of DeFi on Cardano.

The press release also mentioned that the DeFi services within the Cardano ecosystem had seen rapid growth, with Total Value Locked (TVL) reaching all-time highs in terms of ADA and a surge in user interest due to consistent upgrades in Cardano-based DeFi applications.
