After Paradise, USURPA Gallery, and Art of Superwoman have teamed up together to curate a showcase for August of 2023, paying tribute to Womxn’s Month in South Africa. This curated artistic journey aims to entertain, educate, and inspire through a diverse range of immersive activities that bridge the worlds of art, technology, and inclusivity.

Elevating technology and innovation, After Paradise is rewriting the rulebook for conventional art exhibitions. It does so by orchestrating distinctive and immersive encounters that artfully blur the boundary between artistic expression and technological marvels.

Despite being the minority, many womxn have significantly contributed to the crypto and NFT space, excelling in roles such as investors, developers, artists, and entrepreneurs. USURPA and Art of Superwoman aim to continue to foster this through education, mentorship, and inclusivity initiatives beyond just Womxn’s Month.

From awe-inspiring virtual reality installations to intellectually stimulating artist panels, After Paradise is a beacon of creative diversity, showcasing the expansive spectrum of digital art forms.

The event encompassed a duo of exhibitions, Commencing with “In The Clouds” on August 9th, a homage to Women’s Day, followed by “Down To Earth” on August 19th. Alongside these captivating exhibitions, a series of workshops were curated on AI, blockchain technology, soft skills and identity, and much more.

Abieyuwa Eigbobo, Founder, artist, and curator of the event, spoke with nft now for an inside look at the exhibitions and South African womxn artists.

Abieyuwa Eigbobo says the event started off only as an idea, and it was amazing to see the result of all our hard work.

“After months of planning and hard work, it was so mind-blowing to see that not only were we, After Paradise, able to pull off two exhibitions, several workshops, and panels, but to see the number of people that came to support these womxn’s art.”

A spotlight was cast on the remarkable artworks created by 27 exceptionally talented South African female artists, with numerous telling nft now that it was a pivotal moment in their careers.

“It was amazing being part of an event. From my experience, there haven’t really been many local events that showcase digital art. This made me appreciate the Womxn’s Month event even more, especially with it being in-person, so even my family could come to see my digital art,” said artist Mpho Jacobs. “This was really needed in the South African creative space, and I hope it continues and expands in the future.”

This event also served as a chance to onboard numerous crypto-curious artists to Web3. In hopes of not only expanding their digital horizons but also opening doors to new avenues for their art in the digital marketplace.

“Elevating these women and putting a spotlight on their unique creative practices has made me very excited about the change that is coming to the art world,” said artist and director Hakeem Kae-Kazim. “The NFT sphere is not a space I know well, but it was very interesting to see the development of this new field and where it can go.”

Eigbobo emphasizes that this event is not a one-off event, but instead will lead to many future initiatives. “I’m extremely grateful to USURPA, SAMSUNG South Africa, and Art of Superwoman for partnering with us on this event, and I look forward to creating more experiences with them.”
